SPJ Region IX Spring Conference :    All programs at 900 Auraria Parkway, Tivoli Student Union building in Denver April 13-14.

The two-day conference is open to all student and professional journalists in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming. It’s going to be jam-packed with fun, information and networking opportunities. Final program (As of April 12) Programming highlights: Social Media, beginners and advanced; First Amendment watchdogs; Keeping government accountable; Having fun with open records; Journalism 2.0 Models for the future; Making it as a freelancer; Ethics in a digital age; The care and feeding of citizen journalists; Getting arrested for doing journalism; Great resumes – landing that job.

There will also be the Top of the Rockies awards reception for professionals Friday night at the Denver Press Club, the Mark of Excellence awards luncheon for students Saturday.

Final online registrations need to happen by noon Thursday (April 12) at Black Tie Colorado with event code “SPJ2012.” After that, you can register at the door starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

All the programming will be at 900 Auraria Parkway (the former Starz Theater), in the Tivoli Student Union, Denver. The nearest corner is 9th and Walnut. It’s due south of the Pepsi Center and right next to a public parking garage (which is also the best place to park).
